Meet the Staff

Scilla Roncallo

Founder

Scilla is a qualified primary school teacher and engineer by profession. She holds a BSc & MSc in Chemistry as well as another BSc in Materials Science from Genoa University in Italy.  She worked as researcher at INFM before moving to the UK to complete a PhD in materials research for photovoltaic applications. She worked as  Postdoctoral researcher at Cranfield University before moving in Switzerland in 2012 with her family.  She founded Little Scientists as she believes passionately in educating kids from an early age in the exciting world of STEM.  She is a mother of 3 willing Lego Education guinea pigs.

Sonja Milek

Teacher

I completed my studies in biology at the Ruhr University in Bochum in Germany and graduated with a diploma (MSc). I moved to the USA, where I did research in a laboratory and completed my doctoral thesis to gain my PhD. I am currently completing a CAS in Clinical Trial Management. I have been living in Switzerland with my husband and two children since 2012.

The desire and curiosity to understand the things around me shaped me very early in my childhood and I am very happy to be able to put my passion for STEM into practice at Little Scientists.

Joel Mullarkey

Teacher

Joel is currently doing a master‘s degree in Human Movement Sciences at the ETH Zurich. He has experience tutoring children of primary school as well as secondary school age, and having grown up in Switzerland with British parents he is  comfortable in teaching in both English and German.

Valeria Pinti

Teacher

My name is Valeria Pinti and I have a degree in physics and a PhD in environmental science at ETH Zürich. I love reading and writing, my second novel was published last year.

I strongly believe in a project like Little scientists, we live in the digital era: computation will be part of our children future and will certainly help them in their everyday life.

As a mother I find very important learning now how to actively use, recognize and implement the programming skills they'll learn with us.
